Stereogum — It’s been a dramatic few days in the rap-feud trenches. Right now, the whole rap world still roiling in the aftermath of Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That,” the song where Kendrick Lamar came in swinging at his peers Drake and J. Cole. “Like That” still sits at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 after debuting there last week. Last week, J. Cole responded with his Kendrick diss track “7 Minute Drill.” Then, playing his own Dreamville Festival on Sunday, Cole retracted and apologized for that song, saying it was the goofiest thing he’d ever done. (“7 Minute Drill,” which was on its way to being a hit, is now gone from streaming services.) Cole is attempting to opt out of this story, but nobody else is. This weekend saw a flurry of diss tracks, with Drake taking on many of his past collaborators. more info

Stereogum — Blur performed at Coachella on Saturday evening, and it was their first big North American show in nine years, save for a warm-up gig for the festival that took place last week. Frontman Damon Albarn has said that he’s done with the current Blur reunion, and it doesn’t seem like the unenthusiastic crowd at Coachella did anything to change his mind. more info

Stereogum — It’s been more than two decades since Ohio producer RJD2 released his debut, the instrumental hip-hop classic Deadringer . Today, RJ announces plans to follow his last album, 2020’s The Fun Ones, with a new LP called Visions Out Of Limelight. The album is mostly instrumental, but lead single “Through It All” is a collaboration with another inventive producer and pastiche artist, the UK soul singer Jamie Lidell. more info

Stereogum — Jamie xx performed at Coachella on Sunday, and during his set he played a new song called “Baddy On The Floor,” a collaboration with the DJ and producer Honey Dijon, which he first started teasing back in 2021. That track has officially been released as a single today. It’s the second new single we’ve gotten from Jamie xx this year, following “It’s So Good,” which came out back in January and was one of our best songs of the week. more info
