Stereogum — In February, the Decemberists returned with the song “Burial Ground.” The following month, the folk-rock band announced their new album As It Ever Was, So It Will Be Again and shared the 19-minute single “Joan In The Garden.” Today, they’re back with “All I Want Is You.” more info

Stereogum — British new wave greats Haircut 100 got together in 1980, cranked out a bunch of classic power pop jams that did well on the UK charts, and then broke up in 1984. Frontman Nick Heyward went solo and made a bunch of records. Haircut 100 have gotten back together a couple of times since their breakup, and they’re now active again. (They covered Harry Styles for the BBC last year.) Now, Haircut 100 are coming back to tour the US for the first time since the ’80s. more info

Stereogum — The culty British singer-songwriter Robyn Hitchcock has had a long, fascinating career. He led the Soft Boys, the influential UK psych-punk band. He filmed a concert film with Jonathan Demme and then acted in a few other Demme movies. He served as a key inspiration for bands like R.E.M., who covered his song “Arms Of Love.” Along the way, Hitchcock also cranked out an insane number of glittering power pop nuggets without ever getting anywhere near mainstream stardom. Now, he’s telling a key part of his story in a new book. more info

Stereogum — Hallelujah The Hills, the longstanding Boston indie rock project of occasional Stereogum contributor Ryan Walsh, are slowly rolling out DECK, a 52-song, four-album collection with an original song for each card in a deck of playing cards. The latest entry in the series, “Here Goes Nothing,” arrives in two editions; one is standard, and one is “Patrick’s Version,” with vocals from Titus Andronicus leader Patrick Stickles — himself a one-time Stereogum contributor, wouldn’t you know it. more info

Stereogum — What does faith sound like? How about respect, or trust? There Is A Garden, the new semi-improvised album from Brooklyn-based experimental supergroup Beings, answers these questions with scarcely a word spoken across its nine songs. Listen to the beginning of “Happy To Be,” one of two songs from the album released today, and hear percussionist Jim White find his footing in real time alongside saxophonist Zoh Amba: the crackling croon of her horn finds a gentle melody against which White builds his thundering drums. Then, Steve Gunn enters the scene, his reverating guitar adding texture as much as rhythm, freeing Amba to further explore the range of her instrument, introducing motifs that will appear, almost as if by magic, later in the song. Bassist, keyboardist, and producer Shahzad Ismaily, the musical polymath who has performed with everyone from Marc Ribot to Yoko Ono, is ineffably present in the delicate, almost imperceptible glimmer of a synth that undergirds the song and unites its disparate elements. more info
